
Anton Mejias' competition success in Italy
Young pianist Anton Mejias took the shared second place in the Concorso Internazionale di Musica Gian Battista Viotti Piano Competition in Genoa on 6th November. The first price was not awarded. Anton was the youngest finalist in the competition and he received the award for the best performance voted by the audience; In the final, Anton played Frédéric Chopis's Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor, Op.11. The traditional Viotti Piano Competition was held for the 71st time, and Finns have never reached its final before.
Anton is studying for the second year in Philadelphia at the Gurtis Institute of Music under Gary Graffman and Ignat Solzhenitsyn. He visits Finland regularly and is available as an orchestra soloist and at festivals e.g. with recitals program.
