Welcome Elsa Angervo
A French-Finnish mezzo-soprano Elsa Angervo conquered the Finnish audience by winning the Timo Mustakallio Singing Competition in Savonlinna in July 2025, being called an exceptional talent. The competition was only her second public appearance in Finland.
Elsa Angervo grew up in France in a musician family, but has spent much time in Finland especially in the summers. She began her vocal studies in 2018 at the Conservatoire of Montpellier, and has deepen her studies at the Pôle des Arts Baroques of the Conservatoire of Toulouse and at the Académie Lyrique Toulouse Occitanie. In France Elsa Angervo has performed both as a soloist in baroque works and in opera productions.
”She is a virtuoso singer and an exceptionally prepared performer for her age. In Finland we haven't heard such fabulous Bartoli-like ornament singing in a long time.”
Ville Matvejeff, chairman of the board, Timo Mustakallio Singing Competition 2025
”One instantly noticed her sparkling mezzo-soprano being firmly strong and carrying well. - - The attitude in the glidingly dancing Habanera was that of a true Carmen: a cunning and at the same time scornful relation to love. Many star roles are within Angervo's reach.”
